From timing chain to A/C Compressor repair to torque converter problems, the most common complaint about the 2005 Ford Taurus is transmission failure. Luckily, there is hope -- and ways to get your 2005 Ford Taurus back on the road if you need a transmission repair.
Two of the most common 2005 Ford Taurus symptoms for transmission repair include these senarios:
1) trying to drive forward, but not much movement forward, but realizing the engine is still revving up
And
2) car will not move, and then after hitting the gas, it lurches forward. Finally, the most common symptom that signals a transmission repair is if all the gears will not move at all, leaving your vehicle motionless.
Transmission repair is very important. Your transmission controls the movement of your wheels, so you can see if your transmission fails, you have a very severe problem. When you first see a sign that you may need a transmission repair, its time to take your vehicle in to get checked by a local transmission repair specialist. (If you are local to the Charlotte NC areas, call Twin Automotive & Transmission - they have been in the transmission repair and transmission rebuild business for over 30 years and offer Charlotte's Longest Transmission Rebuild Warranty.)
Most people have the same problem with the 20005 Ford Taurus transmission -- they are driving along and then sudddenly after stopping at a stop sign, the RPMs will go through the roof but there will be no moving forward or backwards, only park. So what do you do if you have a loss of gears and need a transmission repair?
The major option you have is to either rebuild transmission or replace. The less costly of the two, that usually always has a longer warranty -- is a transmission rebuild. When replacing with a used transmission, typically you are purchasing a part that comes with little to no warranty -- and a part that already has wear and tear on the transmission itself. The best option is to take your current transmission and pay for a complete transmission rebuild. A transmission rebuild on your 2005 Ford taurus means that the transmission will be removed, completely disassembled, broken or worn parts are replaced, cleaned and then the entire unit is reassembled with new transmission rebuild. This helps restore your transmission back to a 'like-new' working state.
(If you are local to the Charlotte NC areas, call Twin Automotive & Transmission at 704-821-3460. We provide free transmission repair and transmission rebuild estimates as well as Charlotte's longest transmission rebuild warranty - 3 years / unlimited miles.)

Nothing is worse than having your transission fail. Above other auto repairs, the only other repair that can come close is an engine failure. Unlike other repair problems, where you still may be able to operate your truck, suv or car, a failed transmission means your vehicle isn't moving anywhere.
If you need to get back on the road, Charlotte's transmission specialists, Twin Automotive & Transmission Repair can answer all your questions about your transmission, including a rebuilt transmission
Based upon the age, make and model vehicle, or your current budget, a new transmission is not always a favorable option. A rebuilt transmission can help you save money, provides you with a warranty for the work performed, and will help restore your current transmission to close to a like new condition. Rebuilt transmissions also take a shorter time to repair, rather than waiting on a new transmission to become available or shipped from an out of state source.
Rebuilt transmissions also have benefits over a used transmission replacement. Used Transmissions typically come with no warranty and are typically in a condition that will lead to a future rebuild anyway. Imagine spending a few thousand on a used transmission, only to find that transmission also needs to be rebuilt just a few thousand miles later. Used transmissions are typically found in junk yards or sold cheaply online. When comparing a used transmision to a rebuilt transmission option, remember that there is no such thing as a "quick fix" with transmissions. Although you may save money purchasing a used transmission, that used transmission will have the same transmission failure or problem that you already had with your current transmission.
Here at Twin Automotive & Transmission repair, we understand that a quality rebuilt transmission is vital to the life of your vehicle. We take pride in our work, as most of our customers come straight from word of mouth referrals.
If you are having a transmission problem, or need a transmission rebuild, do not wait any longer. Twin Automotive & Transmission has the experience to get your vehicle back on the road in no time. And since we are not a franchise, you do not have to deal with any middle-men salesmen or additional fees. We can answer all your rebuilt transmission questions with no hassle, no pressure service. Call TwinCharlotte.com today by calling us at 704-821-3460.

efore looking into a complete rebuild on a Hyundai Accent Transmission, there are several different things you can look for to try and diagnose your transmission problem:
► Is there fluid leaking?
► Is the unit overheated?
► Are there strange noises? (buzzing or humming)
► Problems shifting between gears?
Each one of those Hyundai Accent transmission problems can point to a different type of repair. For example, if there is fluid leaking, that could be caused by a broken gasket or loose/missing pan bolts. If it is overheating, that could be caused by clogged lines, which have to be fixed or replaced by a professional. Other transmission problems cannot so easily be diagnosed by yourself, and must be inspected by a transmission specialist.
Many times, problems with shifting gears or loss of gears can be solved by a transmission rebuild repair. We specialize in all types of transmission repair and transmission rebuild, including Hyundai Accent transmission repair.
Here are some additional problems wth Hyundai Accent Transmissions:
Poor transmission shift: Transmission may not shift out of park due to blown fuse, bad brake-light switch or transmission shift-lock solenoid. (1999)
Transmission problems: If transmission sticks in 3rd, shifts poorly, or has harsh 1-2 shift, the pulse generator may need to be replaced. (2000-2002)
Transmission slippage: Poor shifting, slippage or a transmission that will not shift out of third gear can often be traced to corroded connectors or other problems in the wiring, which may require replacement of the wiring harness. Other shifting problems may be caused by a problem with the transmission-fluid temperature sensor or pulse generator. (2000-01)

One of the first statements we hear from telephone callers in Charlotte NC is "I think I need a Rebuilt Transmission." Then, of course, the next question is, "How much does it cost?" Our first thought when we hear these questions are "Has the vehicle been properly diagnosed?" Only a proper diagnosis on your vehicle will accurately tell us if you do, indeed, need a rebuilt transmission. (Get a Free Transmission Diagnosis here.)
We once had a phone call from someone with a F250 Ford Pickup truck (E40D automatic overdrive truck transmission). He asked us for a price to rebuild the transmission, however we offered to give him a free diagnosis on the vehicle first, before we brought the transmission in for a rebuild. The caller was very resistant to our suggestion of a diagnosis and never came by.
Instead, he called a competitor down the street who gladly quoted him a low price just so the man would bring the vehicle in. About 5 weeks later, the same man called us back asking for a free diagnosis. We told him of course, and he was here within a few minutes. He explained the competition rebuilt the transmission and the price they quoted ended up being three times the actual bill. The bigger problem was that his truck was not fixed; it was having the same problem as it did before.
How could this be? No proper transmission repair diagnosis. The transmission shop he called gave him what he wanted, instead of what he needed.
We ran our diagnosis with our state of the art scanning equipment to find a trouble code for a TECA (transmission electric control assembly) relay. This $25 part helps the computerized transmission work, but it is not bolted to the transmission.
Yes, his transmission did need work and some maintenance, but it did not need a rebuilt transmission to make it operate properly. A transmission diagnosis by a professional would have saved him a bunch of money, and lots of aggravation and frustration.
Don't get taken advantage of --
get a proper transmission repair diagnosis BEFORE you jump into a rebuilt transmisson.

Believe it or not, your transmission is one of the most important parts inside your vehicle. If your transmission fails, your vehicle will not be able to move. The transmisison controls power from your engine to your driveshaft, which helps turn the wheels of your car. Good preventive maintenance can help to keep your transmission in shape, but high mileage, age, and common wear and tear on the vehicle can still create a transmission problem.
Here are some of the most common transmission problems that cause for repair:
1) Clutch Transmission Problems
Your vehicle's transmission clutch is located within the torque converter. Clutch problems can commonly be confused with fluid problems. This is because when the clutch jams up, the transmission solenoid may lock up -- causing the amount of transmission fluid in the torque converter to be incorrectly calculated. This type of problem normally causes voilent shaking underneath the vehicle and high heat levels in the transmission. Power output in the engine can also drop. When left unserviced or not repaired, a clutch problem can easily cause massive damage to your transmission by overheating the transmission or causing damage to internal gears due to incorrect fluid levels.
2) Low Transmission Fluid Levels or Leaks
Low transmission fluid or transmission fluid leaks are a very common transmission problem. Sometimes transmission fluid leaks are caused by leaks inside the transmission unit. Due to wear and tear on the vehicle, or even just age, the seals inside the transmission or driveshaft may have become faulty, thereby leaking transmission fluid. Occassionally, transmission gasket seals may also need to be replaced in order to seal the leaks inside the transmission.
Another type of transmission fluid problem would be if the transmission fluid becomes contaminated. Some vehicles with radiator issues can cause radiator coolant to leak into the transmission. This would contaminate the entire transmission fluid supply causing the need for the all fluid to be drained and replaced.
Signs of low transmission fluid or a transmission fluid leak include slipping gears, slow shifting or hard shifting. Old transmission fluid can also cause these problems, in which you would also need to replace / change the transmission fluid with a transmission flush and then have the transmission refilled with new transmission fluid.

3) Transmission Solenoid Problems
The transmission solenoid's job is to control the flow of fluid inside the transmission. When the transmission solenoid becomes damaged, it is usually because of insufficient levels of transmission fluid OR due to electronic problems within the transmission solenoid. If your transmission is slipping and there are no leaks, the transmission solenoid is the first item that should be checked for repair.
4) Transmission Torque Converter Problems
One of the most common transmission problems with the torque converter is if the torque converter is worn or has damaged needle bearings. When the torque converter needle bearings become worn, you may experience strange noises coming from inside the transmission while driving in gears. Sounds noises include grinding or brushing sounds. Torque Convertors can be the source of several other types of problems as well, but needs to be properly checked for diagnosis to repair.

Take care of your car and it will take care of you. Following basic car maintenance tips can help keep you on the road and out of the repair shop. A little vehicular TLC can even help stretch your fuel dollar and help the environment, too.
1) Battery
Most car batteries today are maintenance-free, sealed and can last more than three years. The first sign your battery should be replaced is often trouble starting the engine.
2) Tires
A car tire inflated to 35 pounds per square inch (psi) can lose one psi every month or for every 10 degrees Fahrenheit of temperature change, so your car maintenance checklist should include checking tire pressure. Find the recommended level in the owner’s manual or on a sticker on the driver’s side door jamb. And don’t forget the spare.
Rotate tires every 6,000 miles to prevent uneven wear, replace them when they become worn and have the alignment checked if the car pulls to either side when driving or if you notice uneven tire wear.
3) Engine oil
Checking and changing oil is critical to keep today’s engines running properly and efficiently. Follow manufacturer guidelines for changing the lubricant – generally, every 3,000 miles or three to six months.
Check the oil level with the engine off and the car parked on a level surface. Open the hood, remove the dipstick, wipe it clean with a cloth or paper towel, then return it to the oil reservoir. Take it out again and see whether the level is within the acceptable range marked on the dipstick. If you add oil, don’t overfill, which can damage the engine.
4) Transmission fluid
Checking the automatic transmission fluid is another vital item on the car maintenance checklist. Look for a reservoir marked ATF (automatic transmission fluid) and follow the same steps as monitoring the oil level – only this time, with the engine running. Follow manufacturer’s recommendations for change intervals, about every 30,000 miles.
5) Engine coolant
Replace most engine coolant or antifreeze every 30,000 miles – or every two to three years. Newer formulas, however, may last up to 50,000 miles. To check coolant level, turn the car off and wait for the engine to cool. Locate the coolant reservoir (usually a translucent plastic tank) and eyeball the level of the coolant against the full and low indicators.
6) Power steering fluid
Power steering fluid should be changed every three years or 50,000 miles. If you have a power steering fluid reservoir, check the level visually; otherwise, follow the dipstick method. Low power steering fluid may indicate a leak, so have your mechanic take a look.
7) Brakes and brake fluid
Check to ensure that brake fluid levels are within tolerance. How often you need to replace brake pads or other components depends on how you drive and typical driving conditions. Warning signs of a brake problem include noise, vibration or “grabbing” when you apply the brakes. Working on your brakes is a job probably best left to the professionals.
8) Air filter
Basic car maintenance suggests changing your air filter each year or every 12,000-15,000 miles. A clean air filter can help your engine “breathe” better and improve gas mileage and reduce harmful emissions.
9) Fuel filter
Replace it annually to help prevent debris from clogging your car’s fuel line.
10) Windshield wipers and wiper fluid
Windshield wiper care is one of the most neglected basic car care tips. Replace the blades every six to 12 months or whenever the rubber becomes worn. Check the wiper fluid reservoir every week or so and keep it full.
11) Headlights and brake lights
With your car turned on and parked, have someone walk around to see that your lights are working – headlights, brake and tail lights, turn signals, etc.
Replacing bulbs in today’s vehicles can be a challenge. Have a mechanic do the job, particularly replacing and aiming headlights. A pro also knows if the problem is a blown fuse, not a burned out bulb.
12) Keeping your Car Clean
There is nothing like jumping into a fresh, clean vehicle. Avoid leaving trash inside your vehicle. Keep a small trash bag inside your vehicle behind a front seat or in the inner console area. This will help eliminate any trash build ups.
Also be sure to dust off your dash, steering wheel and doors on a regular basis.
Keep your vehicle in top condition for 2012!

Transmission Shifts Hard
Transmission Failure
O/D Light is flashing
Gear shift broke while shifting
Shifter won't align properly
No Reverse or Forward (or both)
Vehicle vibrates while driving

As Charlotte's Transmission Repair specialists, we can easily tell you the top three signs that signal you need a transmission repair. From Honda Transmission Repair to Fords to Lexus or Acura, let us help give you detailed transmission repair information and get your vehicle back on the road. Contact us at 704-821-3460 or email us for a free transmission repair estimate.
There are several tell tale signs that can give you a clue that your car is probably developing some transmission issues. Some transmission repair symptoms start off small as noises or vibrations, but when these symptoms are ignored, small repairs can easily escalate into large major repairs. Please read this list carefully. If you are experiencing any of these transmission symptoms, please contact us immediately at 704-821-3460 to avoid costly repairs.
1) Noise
One clear sign that you need a transmission repair is the presence of any form of noise that seems to emerge from beneath the floorboards. The auto transmission should work smoothly and noiselessly. Hearing grinding or whiny noises may be an indication of emerging problems with the valves or gears.
2) Vibrations
Another sign of an auto transmission going bad is vibrations when the car is shifting through gears. If you feel vibrations, or notice that the car drags or stutters when shifting gears, you should take it as a sign of transmission trouble. The cause may be a minor or it could be major. (Contact Charlotte's Transmission Repair Specialists, Twin Automotive & Transmission repair for a diagnosis of your transmission repair.) Vibrations may also be described as Grinding, shaking or the transmission is jerky changing into gears.
3) Fluid Leaks
Another sign you may need a transmission repair, is the presence of stains or wet spots under the car. Normally, any form of leaks noticed under the car should be considered as a sign of trouble. If the stain color is red, then it is probably leaking from your transmission and should be checked out immediately.
You can also detect transmission issues by checking the level of transmission fluids. Low fluid levels can lead to further problems. The color of the fluid should be translucent red. If it has a burnt smell or looks muddy then you need to change it.
Fluid leaks are one of the easiest ways to identify that you are in need of some kind of transmission repair or auto repair.
When common symptoms for a transmission repair go unresolved, what was once a minor transmission repair can easily (and quickly) change into a major transmission repair. If you are experiencing any of these transmission repair symptoms, please contact Charlotte's Best Transmission Repair Shop, Twin Automotive & Transmission Repair.
We offer Charlotte's Longest Transmission Repair Warranty - 3 Years / Unlimited Miles. And, with this blog - you can save an additional $200 OFF your transmission rebuild.
